ROTARY BASICS

Rotary Basics
January is Rotary Awareness month. January marks the beginning of the second half of the Rotary year. It is time to consider how our Rotary Values and our own actions influence public perceptions of Rotary Club members. Rotary International, the world’s first service club organization is made up of over 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Its members form a global network of business and professional leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world. Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization’s more than 1.2 million members.
Service is Rotary’s first goal. The Rotary Club focus on service is reflected in our many community activities. Through these fundraising activities we are able to build good fellowship, goodwill, and be beneficial to all concerned, while creating better, safer and healthier communities, one project at a time. Locally Rotary provides assistance to Steps to Hope, High School Scholarship awards, Boys & Girls Clubs, Dictionaries and reading programs in elementary schools, Relay for Life, Hospice, Honor Air, ShelterBox, Wheelchairs International, Interact Club and many more
Rotary’s world wide project to eradicate Polio is aggressively moving forward in Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan. These 4 areas are the final battle ground to end polio from taking more lives. Rotarians all around the world are mobilizing to immunize the world community and say GOOD BY POLIO.
When we are known as Rotarians then everything we do reflects upon us all. By living by or Rotary values and committing to Service Above Self we build a stronger Rotary and a better world for all.
