May 4, Meeting Highlights:
Leslie Richardson was inducted as a member of the Thermal Belt Rotary Club. She works for Monarch Services and they provide services for the disabled.
Jim Scott told us the Rubber Duckie fundraiser will be held the same day as the BBQ. The proceeds from the Rubber Duckie event go to three charities, and the big winner of the race gets $1,000. Jim said Doug Griffin will again be a sponsor of the Bike Tour. Doug will be leaving this area, but he doesn't know just when. Jim also said this club gave away $17,200+ this Rotary year.
President Elect Ann Crandall said the most important thing she got out of attending the District Conference was that it just emphasized how much she loves Rotary. She reviewed the line-up of officers for 2009-2010 and expressed the hope we will grow in numbers. Steve Rosenberg is the President Elect nominee and he said he would like to see more young people becoming interested in joining our club. Jim Scott will be treasurer, Ed Kan will be secretary, and Harry Burnett will be Sgt. at Arms. Jim will also be chairman of International Services.
President Pete said there is to be a copy of the Four Way Test posted in every classroom at the Landrum High School.
Harry Burnett conducted the Sgt. at Arms and collected several happy $. The 50-50 pot of $12 was won by Reggie Drake.
