June 1: -- MEETING HIGHLIGHTS:
· President Pete announced there will be a farewell party for Dharmesh Madnani at the Crandall residence on June 11 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Come and say farewell to Dharmesh. His parents will be there. Dharmesh leaves on Saturday.
· On June 20, the installation dinner will be held at the Rosenberg home, 45 Newman Dr. in Columbus at 5:00 p.m. RSVP at 894-5531.
· On June 22, at 8:00 a.m. we will be doing signage for the Bike Tour.
· Jim Scott spoke about the Bike Tour and the effort to get sponsors. They need to be contacted now. Jim sent out about 100 letters to potential sponsors. Jim also gave a Rotary Minute, about his time with the Dillworth Rotary Club, near Charlotte. He talked about how it had gone down in membership but had accomplished so much, making one proud to be a Rotarian.
· Ed Kan thanked the club for sponsoring the recycling drive. About 300 cans and many water bottles were collected.
· President Pete said many young people were involved in Relay for Life this year. The three high school teams raised $5,000. The Saluda school had a sale on bird houses. Dharmesh was impressed with the cancer program. Last year the program raised about $54,000. This year, the figure increased to approximately $64,500.
