Program Agenda

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM: Jim Scott, program. Speaker will be Tryon Town Manager
June 29: Chuck Britton: program/food
June 15: -- MEETING HIGHLIGHTS:
· President Pete said they did a good job of sending Dharmesh off. It was a cultural experience when his parents were here.
· The sign painting for the Bike Tour will continue on Saturday, June 27.
· President elect Ann said they took our RYLA student to the camp. The student is involved in Interact, and she will come back and talk to the club in July or August.
· Jim Scott reminded all that the Bike Tour is less than three weeks away. We have sent letters to our sponsors and to the police department. The water stops are covered. The Portajohn people are standing by. We have plenty of biker socks Jim has sent press releases to six towns. So far, we have only $2,275 commited by sponsors. It has been slow, less than last year. WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS. On the Friday before the event, we will be busy all day setting up tents, etc. We will also need people for tear down.
Jim Scott introduced our speaker, George Alley. Mr. Alley started by saying that the showers for the bikers are in better shape this year than last. He wants to make it possible to do more biking in the area. About $236,908 are needed to take care of various things for Harmon Field, e.g. a roof for the gym and improve the tennis courts. There are many programs for kids. A new roof was put on the log cabin and the kitchen was remodeled. We may have some camping here - the Scouts are trying it out.
Harry Burnett conducted the Sgt. at Arms and took in several $ for birthdays and other events. Ray gave because he enjoyed the BBQ festival. Jean Scott was happy because the Crandalls gave a nice party for Dharmesn. Ann was sad because she has been called for jury duty but happy that we have a place like Harmon Field. Pete said he was glad they had a Youth Exchange Student stay with them, but also happy to have just Ann and himself in their house. Ray gave a happy $ because he and Dianne enjoyed the party given for Dharmesh. Ed Britton had a birthday and Harry Burnett had two birthdays in his family. The 50-50 pot of $13 was won by Harry.
