COMING EVENTS:
Shrimpfest will be on September 19.
Our club will be giving out dictionaries to 3rd graders in
Landrum and Polk County once we find out how many students in the schools.
Our club will help build the privacy fence for Steps-To-Hope
before the leaves fall.

THIS WEEK'S PROGRAM: Our District Governor Carol King will be our guest speaker. There will be a pot-luck dinner at the Chamber of Commerce meeting room before the meeting.
August 24: Meeting Highlights:
The August 24 meeting was attended by 14 members at the Chamber of Commerce. Meeting was presided by President Ann Crandall. Jim Scott presented a check for Cheryl Womack, from Steps to Hope. Cheryl Womack then gave us a brief description of the various programs at Steps To Hope.
Our speaker Gloria Underwood gave us a power point presentation of Walking Tour of Historic Tryon, including the early history of Tryon beginning with William Tryon whom the town was named after, the Tryon Peak, the railroad passing through Tryon, Charles Pearson and the
Pearson Falls, the vinyards, and many historic buildings, including the Lanier Library, the hotels and churches and the streets.
Sgt. At Arms Highlights: Ed Britton sold raffle tickets and collected happy dollars for Polio+, and sad, birthday dollars. The 50/50 raffle was won by Ed Kan.
