held at the Chamber of Commerce building in Lynn, NC

COMING EVENTS:

 

Shrimpfest will be on September 19.

 

Our club will be giving out dictionaries to 3rd graders in

Landrum and Polk County once we find out how many students in the schools.

 

Our club will help build the privacy fence for Steps-To-Hope

before the leaves fall.

August 31:  Meeting Highlights:

The August 31 meeting was attended by 15 members at the Chamber of Commerce. Meeting was presided by President Ann Crandall, after a pot-luck dinner.  Guests included Carol King, 7671 District Governor,  Connie Backlund, 7670 District Assistant Governor, and Nancy and Denise Britton, Dottie Burnett, Robyn Rsoenberg, and Jean Scott. Our guest speaker Carol King was introduced by Club President Ann Crandall. Carol King presented the Rotary Star to Pete Crandall. Then she asked “Why Are We Here?” “Why Being A Rotarian?” She talked about RI President Jack Kenny, and Mia Farrow at the Rotary Convention in Birmingham, her touching story about being a polio victim herself and her dedication to the cause of eradicating polio and her other projects about Darfur region in Sudan. We were encouraged to read her story Septembers The Rotarian magazine.

 

Sgt. At Arms Highlights:  Harry Burnett sold raffle tickets and collected happy dollars for Polio+, and sad, birthday dollars.  The 50/50 raffle was won by Dottie Burnett.
